The New Director

June 11th, 2008

Tammy Burden has been hired as the new director for our Center. She will replace Jamie Snyder who has been at the helm for seventeen years. Jamie’s passion and dedication have shaped our mission from the Center’s inception. She saw a need for helping those affected by domestic violence and sexual assault and formed the Center for Survivors in 1990. She steadfastly worked through every obstacle to help those in need of services and care. The staff, volunteers, and clients of the Center will miss her. Good luck, Jamie in your new ventures!

Tammy has moved to Columbus from Telluride, CO. She has family in the area, and is thrilled to be back in Nebraska. She can be contacted at tamburdtelluride@hotmail.com.

Our Current Needs List

June 11th, 2008

The Center provides the basics for many families. Some of our clients are forced to leave their homes very quickly with literally the clothes on their backs. A few essentials can make a big difference in this situation. Columbus is so generous, and we usually have a good supply of articles and clothing to help families get back on their feet. However, there is always a wish list, too, and this season it includes:

Cleaning supplies: Sponge mops, garbage bags, cleaners, bleach

Personal care items: Deoderant, diapers, lotion, hairspray, gel/mousse, conditioner

Food items: Spaghetti sauce/pasta, cereal, applesauce, individually wrapped snacks, granola bars, applesauce, peanut butter/jelly, canned tuna, canned fruit

Misc. items: Batteries (AAA, AA, 9 volt), light bulbs, ziploc bags, foil, plastic wrap, gift cards for Walmart, SuperSaver, etc., Rubbermaid totes with lids.

The next time you are shopping throw a couple of extra items in the cart. We accept donations at the office anytime. We appreciate your support!
